    Newsgroups and email is currently really quiet.

    But I had some excitement yesterday when the courier dropped off my
    freshly ordered ram and cpu cooler

    The poor old box has been struggling with 8 Gig and temps between mid 70
    and mid 80 degrees "C"

    Then cooler is a weekend job but the ram could go immediately and so it
    did. While (Whilst) installing the ram I noticed a second drive in the
    bays. No power connected.

    Umm! ??? I really should keep notes. But I'll plug it in when I fit the cooler. Find out what is on it

    So having gone from 8 Gig to 32 Gig the swap partition is not touched
    for hours and during the day the new ram gradually fills with "disk cache" Buckets of room now

    This morning was a large upgrade including kernel and graphics driver
    and the reboot included the usual heart stopping process of waiting for
    the first time compile of modules and the graphics interface.
    If that ever falls over one day and leaves me with no graphics I'm not
    sure what I would do.

    I have mentioned keeping notes, haven't I. It will be a tragedy that I haven't. so so so stupid.

    It was only random fill in twaddle to break the newsgroup silence Bobbie.
    For days on end there is no traffic, not even my email.

    I have several responses to Marcus "pixel post" including Daniels answer.

    theoretically the cooler goes in today.
    I have all the kit, the IKEA type instructions, thermal paste, etc
    Even the weather promises storms and tempest

    It has to go smoothly.
