• allfix or binkd?

From Martin Kazmaier@1:340/1101 to All on Thu Apr 23 12:25:00 2026
    I'm getting...

    + 22 Apr 05:40:23 AFIX ALLFIX v6.1.000 02-Feb-19 17:08
    # 22 Apr 05:40:23 AFIX Command : Rp -SRIF c:\ele\irex\outbound\000c0000.srf
    ! 22 Apr 05:40:23 AFIX Invalid SRIF file: c:\ele\irex\outbound\000c0000.srf
    # 22 Apr 05:40:23 AFIX RP: FREQs [0 ] Service [0 ]
    % 22 Apr 05:40:23 AFIX Nothing to do (14:32)

    And my binkd command is:

    exec "@start /min c:\\ele\\allfix\\bink.bat *S" *.req

Any ideas, or something else I could try? A different FREQ processory maybe?

I've had multiple people send me freqs. My netmail reader is identifying
    them as file requests.

I replied you to netmail, but here it goes again:

You are starting here allfix in a separate session, but binkd is not waiting for it to finish. Consider adding /wait.

You need to use ! in front of the command, like

exec !"@c:\\ele\\allfix\\allfix.exe rp -srif *S" *.req

I don't remember the exact syntax for windows.

I'm pretty sure I'm using the proper syntax for windows. I've never needed a
! before for any other commands that run. I've added a /wait between /min
    and the command.

Do we have any input from Windows users? I think that's an OS/2 thing, but I could be wrong. My commands for dealing with .tic and weekly packets run normally and they don't have a ! in front of them. I'll try it if you really think it's necessary.

This is what I used on Win7 when I still had Allfix:

exec "!d:\\fido\\\\allfix.exe RP -SRIF *S" *.REQ

    Cheers, Michiel

Are the files you're creating or that are coming in uppercase, by chance? Either way, here is the documentation directly from binkd.conf-dist:

    <-- SNIP -->
    # Run an external program.
    # The "*S" macro in command line substed with S.R.I.F., see !SRIF.TXT
    # The "!" before program pathname means immediate program execution
    # after receiving the file.

    # The "@" before program pathname means execute program in separate console
    # The "@@" before program pathname means execute program in hidden console

    # *A*, *A@ - list of all remote AKA separated by spaces
    # *P - password protected [0|1],
    # *L - listed system [0|1]
    # *H - remote hostname or IP,
    # *N - short file name (win32 only).
